What does a Fractional Compliance Officer do?
A Fractional Compliance Officer provides specialist compliance leadership on a part-time or outsourced basis. They design and oversee your compliance program, manage regulatory risk, train your team, and act as your organization’s compliance authority — without the cost of a full-time hire. This model also works for organizations that already have an internal Compliance Officer but need specialized external support for specific projects, audits, or high-demand periods. Note that some regulations require the Compliance Officer to be a direct employee of the organization — this must be assessed case by case. In any scenario, having a specialized external team working side by side with internal leadership is always possible and often adds significant value.

Most jurisdictions require organizations above a certain size to have a confidential whistleblowing channel. Beyond legal obligation, an effective channel helps detect issues early, protect employees, and demonstrate genuine commitment to ethical culture. Ethia Compliance can help you design, implement, and manage a channel that actually works.
What is data protection compliance and why does my company need it?
Data protection compliance means ensuring your organization handles personal data lawfully, securely, and transparently — in line with applicable regulations such as GDPR or local privacy frameworks. Non-compliance can result in significant fines, reputational damage, and loss of customer trust. We offer diagnosis, adaptation, and ongoing management of your data protection obligations.
In which countries does Ethia Compliance operate?
Our team has worked primarily in Chile, including with international companies operating in the country. We apply international compliance frameworks across jurisdictions — our Legal Director holds ISO certifications and our DPO is GDPR-certified, which allows us to advise on cross-border data protection, anti-corruption programs, and global compliance standards. One important clarification: we provide compliance consulting, not legal representation outside Chile. Our founder is a licensed attorney in Chile only, so we do not offer legal practice in other jurisdictions. What we do offer is rigorous, internationally-grounded compliance advisory that travels well.
How long does it take to implement a compliance program?
It depends on the scope, size, and current state of your organization. A focused diagnostic and initial compliance framework can be delivered in 4–8 weeks. A full compliance program — covering policies, training, controls, and monitoring — typically takes 3 to 6 months, and often longer. We are realistic: nothing is built overnight. What matters is continuity and giving the system room to mature step by step. We run periodic evaluations and help you build a work plan to keep moving forward — whether that’s with us, with your internal team, or with third parties. The goal is that compliance keeps growing, regardless of who drives it.
